Yeah it's a very sandboxy feeling game, I agree, but I think it was pretty fun in it's combat and overpowered stealth mechanics. It definitely gets repetitious, it's one of those games that I found more enjoyable to chip away at here and there, because in short bursts it's really fun. It's good, but certainly not outstanding.

Oddly really enjoying the fetch quests in Nier. One related to a man's lost dog made me shed a tear.

I started playing Shadow of Mordor. So far I'm enjoying it, having done about a third of the main missions. It kind of feels like a mash up of Assassin's Creed, Batman, and probably a few other games I've played.

I've been having fun with the captain system, but it has resulted in this one orc I've been untrying to kill reaching level 18. Maybe I should just ignore him, but he's occasionally shown up when I've been involved in other battles. It also gave me an opportunity to kill an orc that had killed Chickan (and similar for other people on my friends list).

I played a little of the first Hitman episode over the weekend. So far, I've completed the tutorials and the sole mission (for this episode) once. There's a few challenge options to milk more from the initial offering, but I'm yet to try them.

The tutorials felt like mini missions and were quite poor. I was a little worried at this stage, but the main mission ended up being quite enjoyable. I was especially impressed by how well the game handled hundreds of NPCs on the screen at once and how I could interact with them. That said, there's still a number of bugs that need ironing out. One particular funny bug happened after I killed a target and stuffed him into a closet. I somehow triggered a scenario where I was to escort him to another room and his dead corpse began talking to me.

If you're a fan of Hitman, I'm sure you'll like it. The $15USD asking cost is pretty decent for about a few hours worth of fun too.

The moment I fell in love with Deus Ex HR: When I managed to hop over a gate by making steps out of a crate and five barrels. The mission details suggest hacking the gate's security system or seeking a nearby fire escape. Finding this third way was so much cooler. I love the freedom the game gives you.

I was doing some reading last night and found that I don't actually need to complete all of the side quests in the game. Fair enough. But, I'm having such a great time doing it that I'll gladly go for the 100%. Really loving the interactions with Nier, Weiss and Kaine - feels very naturally and also is really hilarious as well.

Given it's fairly short in comparison to other JRPG's out there, I'm keen on playing through to get the extra endings.

Chickan - I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this. You should escalate it up your ever growing pile of shame.

Another post about Nier - it's been a long while since I've been itching to jump back into a game. There's something so enjoyable and interesting about being immersed in the world of Nier. Heck, something as potentially tedious as the fishing minigames are actually quite enjoyable (even though I'm struggling to catch bream and sharks). The story is truly wonderful, and really has a nice weight to it as well - the 'I need to work to earn money to try and help and save my daughter' aspect is logical and understandable, unlike Fallout 4's 'someone stole my son, now I'm going to build a house and clear a settlement and destroy some robots and then maaaybe I'll go look for him'. Propulsive plots in RPG's - from my experience at least - are difficult to maintain, especially in an open world, side quest heavy RPG. Nier, I feel, manages to do that perfectly.

I know I could just edit the above posts... but... anyhow...

Tried to play some Broforce over the weekend with a friend online. It worked ok for the most part, but whenever something massive was occurring (for example, a boss fight with missiles raining down from above) it would move to an absolute crawl - almost single digit fps. Pretty sad really as I was finding myself enjoying the game enough for the most part. It's not perfect, but, as a mindless 80's action film homage game, it kinda works.

I'll get there eventually... I'm busy practicing bad sniping techniques in XCOM 2 right now though.

Oh sorry. Nier is on PS3.

Regretted installing mods on XCOM 2 for a second there. Game updated and, after update, I got the error that it couldn't load because "StopWastingMyTime" could not be found. Turns out I just had to unsubscribe then resubscribe to the mod to get it working again but that was concerning for a second there! Would hate to lose all of my progress for such a little thing - esp as all my mods bar 2 are cosmetic (Stop Wasting My Time to remove the unecessary pauses and one to change the camera to free rotate)

I keep meaning to have played XCom on the PS3, but never got around to it and I doubt I ever will. Doesn't particuarly strike me as a game that I would enjoy playing. With that said, I do enjoy watching people play it.

Started on Salt and Sanctuary last night. Fairly difficult so far. Apparently it has a lot of inspiration from the Dark Souls series. So far, so interesting. Would be nice to know what the general 'story' is of the world and be given a little guidance with what to do with the items you collect along the way.
