There's plenty of valid criticisms about that game but I can't understand how you could think it's bland. |

Lol. Nah. Last time I got to a room with a bunch of androids that I had to sneak past. But I couldn't quite get the sneaking mechanic down. I played about an hour from the start again before posting and it's just ruynning around a stereotypical space station picking up random bits of scrap and proceeding from check point to check point. I think I'm about to get my first "dorr opening mechanism" thing. I can't really remember. |

Does Shadow of Mordor get any better? About 2 hours into it and something isnt right about this game. I should be enjoying it more than I am. Controls feel a little off and I am still getting use to it but that isnt the problem. I think its the actual campaign progression vs free roaming. I dont really understand the point of the nemesis system and picking who to battle when it comes undone as I am free roaming and I end up encountering some other random leader. It even happens when I am undertaking one of those side missions, also baffled that when I end up taking on the leader, another leader may coincidently join in the battle. Then there is the issue with obtaining intel on them to discover weakness and strengths which I have been acquiring frequently for me to end up easily defeating these leaders with very little strategy required, sometimes 2 at a time and an entire uruk/ork swarm at the same time. I am finding the game is wedged in between open world and linear but with none of the pros from both types of games. Am I doing this wrong, or is this just the game? Assassins Creed does the campaign better so far and I was half expecting this to be better. Edited by Biceps Ben Six Pack Smooth, Feb 19 2016, 09:51 PM.

It's a game that takes a while to get going, and the most severe bouts of frustration come early on. It's just structured much differently to your typical open world game. The nemesis system makes more sense and becomes more relevant later on when you get the ability to actually take over the Orc hierarchy to fight for you. The sense of progression in the game is really good because the game can be frustrating and a bit confusing at the start, so my advice would be to stick mostly to the main missions for now so that you unlock more shit and things become a bit clearer. I've only played AC1,2 and 4 but I like Shadow of Mordor considerably more than any of those. |

It doesn't properly start going for a couple of hours in. It's a good game, just takes too long to get to the good stuff. |

I get that it gives you the option to essentially trade in a checkpoint for money so you can go big dick mode, but A. It doesn't (at least not that I've seen yet, early in the game) explicitly tell you this is an option, and B. I got myself into a situation where I destroyed it completely by accident where I bounced of an enemy using the downthrust move, and then bounced between the glass bubble and a nearby roof sufficiently quickly enough that it was destroyed before I even had a chance to know what was going on, more or less boning the run of that level. Quite irritating. It's probably not a common issue, but since it's a very deliberate choice to make while playing it should require an equally deliberate input from the player to destroy. Oh you were actually talking about Shovel Knight? Lol. If memory serves I thought they were quite tough to destroy with normal moves. |
