damn I wish my computer could run XCOM 2. I hope it gets a console release down the line.
The Murphy's law simulator probably has a 95% chance of coming to consoles 5% chance of not coming to consoles.

A little from all 3 columns.

It doesn't explain it's puzzles at all, so you have to just figure it out on your own. It can be frustrating when you stumble across something new and have no idea how it works, but when you finally get it then it feels pretty amazing.

It's like Dark Souls for your mind.

I've solved 8 of the areas so far. The only ones left are the one that combines all other areas and two that are based on abstract puzzles. I'm currently doing the endgame area which is pretty long. I love the game but also get pissed off at my ineptitude so much. I'm surprised I haven't thrown in the towel and checked a walkthrough yet.

I've been reading the steam user reviews and they seem to be mostly negative. From your description it sounds like the user reviews are by but hurt people who can't be arsed figuring things out

That's the problem with a game like The Witness - if people can't solve the puzzles, then they think it's the games fault and call it shit. But... really... if the puzzles are hard, yet solvable, isn't that a good thing?

Eh, look, if you like The Swapper or Talos Principle or Portal you will probably like The Witness. The difference is that while those games work within a limited set of rules that are explained to you, The Witness has a broad, ever-shifting set of rules that usually require more mental work and patience to understand. I imagine it's the increased uncertainty that comes with this that's pissing some people off, but I love it because the payoff for working through your frustration is very rewarding. Overall I like it more than the other games. The golden rule when playing it is to leave a puzzle you can't wrap your head around and try it later. I returned to one area four times before the embarrassingly simple solution dawned on me.

I appreciated The Swapper and Portal, but wouldn't say I liked them. They were good games for what they were, but not games for me. I'm not hugely into puzzle games - I just don't have the patience for them. My understanding of The Witness is that it's just puzzles and very little story - where The Swapper and Portal had story lines to carry through the puzzles, I doubt I'd have patience for a pure puzzle game. But, hats off to those who supported it right away because I honestly thought it would fall flat on its face.

Steam reviews are pretty garbage.

I bet it's mostly "$40 for a puzzle game..." or made by the PC gamer master race bombardment police that overreacted and read the title of an article written and spun from the developers' recent tweets about sales/piracy.

Heh. Reminds me of a place I worked at that changed my score for a puzzle game to something lower because "You can't give that high a score to a puzzle game".
