Doesn't your Vaio play most games now? That's a pretty grunty machine - for this sort of stuff anyway.

That aside I also have no problem plying for PS Plus. I use my PS4 and Vita regularly and I enjoy the mixture of games my subscription gets. I still think it's a shame they ditched their free to play model when their "for the players" model came out but that's business I guess.

After the debacle of GFWL, I am skeptical about gaming on Windows 10. Though it has been suggested that you will be able to cross-buy between the XB1 and Windows 10. I use Steam for PC exclusive games anyway. Besides your XBL subscription covers 360 (primary account) and XB1 (all accounts on you console), the free games are an added bonus and the Gold only sales are great. I don't see the point of having a PC and laptop, doesn't sound cost effective to me. Plus I also borrow games online which saves heaps of money.

I use to buy Xbox gold but stopped completely around 2012. This was just around when MS started the free games for Gold but for me I only considered that a side bonus to what I essentially paid for the service which was to play multiplayer games.

Even though PS3 was free for multiplayer, I still preferred my 360 as the primary console. I was never really interested in PS+ obviously because PS3 was already free for multiplayer but now that model has completely changed with PS4.

For whatever unknown reasons with that gen I felt it was justified to pay for the ability to play multiplayer despite the fact that I was coming from a PC pre Steam environment. I still remember playing games like Duke 3d on PC with dial up modem connections. But my senses returned to me once I saw how good Steam had become.

I guess I got tired of the cheating/mods with PC gaming at the time which led me to use the 360.

You have a decent laptop now. Play it on there dude! Lol. If you're worried about the screen just use your Xbox controller and plug it into your TV with a HDMI cable
I bought it on Steam Sale thanks to Red Panda's suggestion, cost me only $12US. I'm guessing the game costs about $25 on Xbox one. Im going to do exactly what you suggested, play the game on my laptop and use xbox one controller, this is how I am playing all my smaller PC titles including guacamelee and the Telltale games etc. I use my desktop for the bigger titles with the controller, currently Wolfenstein.

Regarding the console subscriptions for so called free games, well its not really free when you pay for monthly services. Im sure I paid less than $5 for Guacamelee a few years a go, seeing that it was $2 in recent sale. Its so much more economical to actually pay for these games rather than spend hundred dollars per year for console subscriptions.

I really think guys like Jingles and Ninty should reconsider their options and save some money and likely get a superior technical version with customisation settings like graphics settings. My laptop is not a gaming machine and has no gpu and it does the job perfectly fine for the smaller games, its perfect for portable gaming such as downtime at work and as you said if I wanted a larger screen use a HDMI cable to monitor or even the lounge room TV.
I have no problem paying $70 a year for PSPlus - does what I need it to do and gets me access to multiplayer which is fine. Unfortunately, not paying $70 for PSPlus does not equal a new laptop to play games.

I have a bunch of other things I'm saving up for before even thinking about saving up for a new laptop/gaming PC. Not that it's not on the horizon, but eventually I'll get a Steam box instead of a gaming PC.
Definitely see your point where not spending $70 a year will get you a laptop or steam box whatever, though I think you should also consider overall cost of games as another contributing factor. Long gone for me now is buying newly released console games at $50-$80 per game, I only pull the trigger now when they are on some ridiculous sale like $20 but that means I have to wait some time to get those games. I bought a few console games last few months for all my consoles that I plan to get into soon enough, so I do enjoy my console experiences still.

I honestly believe you could buy one though without too much spending out of your pocket but you would have to adjust your habits like I have done. But of course its also a matter of priorities in your life and I wont ever question that. I too have other hobbies and for example I could just stop going to the gym and paying $60 a month on that but not everything is about gaming.

Change of topic.

I completed Wolfenstein new order a few days a go and was rather impressed with it. It started off with a bang, got kind of dull in the middle but ended strongly again.

So I started Old Blood and am about half way through it and I have noticed a significant difference in the approach towards the add on vs the full game. I was expecting a similar experience but have been quite surprised in the subtle differences in game play.

Besides the very obvious time differences which I must admit I prefer the WW2 Germany castle of Wolfenstein theme so I do like that setting better, I have noticed a more linear approach to Old Blood and the more fast paced action packed battles. New Order didnt have as much arena style battles and gave you more options in using stealth attacks and exploration where Old Blood puts you in rooms where you have to take down a swarm of nazis.

Undecided on what I prefer more so far, but I am leaning more so towards Old Blood so far.

It does. It does a superb job of it too. Just haven't really sat down and pushed it to its limits yet.

Re: buying a gaming PC. One day we'll buy a better one for sure, but for me, I've had a lot of personal luxuries over the last year and this year it's time for my wife to have those luxuries. I'd love a gaming PC, but I know that I'd not really use it that much - just like I hardly used my 360 and that cost $400.

I played The New Order first and absolutely loved it. Not often I'll replay a game right away, but with that I went right into it again. The Old Blood is fine, but for me it wasn't as enjoyable as The New Order. Also, I didn't particularly like the second half of it.

I reccommend playing Ori with a good set of speakers/headphones and monitor/tv.

It's an incredible audiovisual experience, on top of being an excellent Metroidvania. I personally think Ori does the Metroidvania thing better than Guacamelee does in how its skills/abilities are structured and presented.

Played a round of Hardware: Rivals last night. Not a heck of a lot of fun to be honest. I picked a tank because I used a car in the Beta and it was simply way too clunky and difficult to use. I doubt there'll be an audience for this.

Time to revisit Ori and see if they've fixed the problem that was preventing me progressing. Can't wait to get back in there as I remember being really impressed! :D

Currently playing Pony Land and quite enjoying it. A bit bizarre, but once it settles it's fairly enjoyable.

They didnt fix anything, nor did they need to.

It honestly sounded like a learn to play issue when you got stuck on that door. Never heard of anyone that had issues with that door.

A bit like that. I'm enjoying it for the most part. The music is great.
