What was the point of completing side objectives in StarCraft II again? Is it just to gain solarite for upgrades?

I played heeeaps of God of War 3 last night. The presentation is beautiful, the combat is exhilarating (though a little easy, and the weapon list and move list are bloated) while the platforming is fun but a bit wonky, which is par for the course in previous games. The puzzles are quite challenging and good. The fight against Cronos is fucking amazing. I liked the depictions of Hera, Hercules and Hephaestus, but Aphrodite made me cringe and Hermes felt like a comic Batman villain. The only other disappointment is that the Labyrinth gets built-up for ages but isn't particularly epic. Story-wise I love how Kratos is literally destroying the world by destroying the gods, creating extreme storms and plagues by killing them.

The last episode of Life is Strange borrows heavily from the end of GoW3.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Overall, pretty excellent. The final boss fight was the only one I died in -- not counting Hermes, which isn't really a boss fight -- and one of the best, though I preferred the spectacle of the Hercules and Cronos fights. Oh yeah I died in the Cronos "fight" too a few times.

The series' depiction of Greek mythology looks epic in the actual sense of the word, far better than, say, The Lord of the Rings movies.

I finished off Wolfenstein: The New Order on the weekend. I hadn't played any Wolfenstein games since the original Wolfenstein 3D / Spear of Destiny games, so didn't really have any idea about what the game would be like. I was pleasantly surprised.

The story was entertaining, and I liked how they gave a bit more personality to BJ. The shooting mechanics felt pretty good, and the controls felt fairly tight. I did have a couple of small complaints though:

1. Due to the way controls were laid out, I'd occasionally throw a grenade at my feet when trying to switch weapons. In the game, triangle quickly switches to your previous weapon, while holding R1 will bring up a weapon wheel where you can pick any other weapons. However, tapping R1 throws a grenade.

2. Throughout the game I was given an option to use stealth to take out rooms of enemies (or just thin down the numbers). The game even encourages this through the Commander enemies who will call in reinforcements when alerted. However, towards the end during the final assault the opportunities for stealth pretty much disappear. If you haven't developed many of the non-stealth perks earlier in the game, it makes for some tough battles.

Dat moment when u play Bloodborne for five hours to access the DLC and the power cuts off and corrupts your save data.

I rushed back to it. The mood it put me in caused me to play really shitty. The 1st time around I aced the first 5 bosses while they killed me 10+ times the 2nd time.

Anyway, it's too damn hard given how early it's accessible. Dark Souls' DLC opens up at just the right point, but I'd wager I have to play Bloodborne until near the end just so I'm leveled up enough that the most common enemy type isn't a serious challenge.

And you didn't have a backup cloud save to pull down in place of the corrupt one?

You're not wrong there. I'd just started New Game + or ++ when the Dark Souls DLC came out and found that it slotted into just the right part, difficulty wise, to feel like a practical entry point

I'm not sure. I tried to check the cloud saves but the page wouldn't open. I'm guessing that I don't have a cloud save because I don't have PS+ on the account I'm using to play Bloodborne.

On a related note, I just learned that the Royal Wood is Darkroot Garden in the past. You simply access it from a different point (the place where you fight Sif in the present day). I was obsessed with this game and I'm surprised I never found this out.

I've been playing Galak-Z and it's been really great so far. Really like the Toonami-ish/Morning cartoon presentation of the game. Not sure if I'd want to play using the original Rogue mode, because the game seems quite challenging with unusally smart and effective enemy types and AI behaviours that you dont usually see in something like this.

After sitting in my Steam library for a couple of months, I decided to start Batman Arkham Knight this weekend. I'm guessing the gigabytes of patches have fixed the game's issues as it's been running quite well. Despite the countless complaints I've seen about driving in the game, I'm finding the batmobile to be a nice addition to the game. However, I was a little dirty to find out my $2 DLC purchase for Michael Keaton's batmobile doesn't work in the campaign. Thankfully, the bat suit can be worn!
