Been playing the PC version of PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate. Didn't think the graphical improvements wer emuch at first but, when comparing it to the original side by side, I see I was mistaken.

I'm curious, would console only gamers here even consider a steam box? In my opinion it doesnt make much sense for someone who already plays via PC but its certainly a valid option for console gamers to get into PC gaming and the advantages it offers.

A Steam box would waive off pretty much all the limitations that Nintendo/MS and Sony offer and you would get the added advantages of a cheaper more flexible digital library.

I'm excited for a Steam box. It's ideal for me. I don't have a good PC - and will probably not move to having a gaming PC - so a Steam box is ideal because it allows me to play those smaller games on Steam that won't make their ways to consoles. I'm not a huge fan of gaming on a laptop, but am quite happy to do so on a TV.

Fallout 3, went to look for the West kid at the 3 possible places. Went into the cave hideout, discovered giant ass scorpions. Fuck that, you're on your own kid, sorry.

I've said this numerous times in the past my desktop is directly connected to my TV and I use a xbox controller so it's pretty much operated like a console. But of course my desktop is huge and takes up alot of physical space and I suspect that most people prefer the smaller form factor of a console. So I'm glad you are interested in a steam box, best of both worlds for someone like yourself.

Completed tomb raider with a 95% competition rate, only missing out on some of those collectables unique to each level and had a blast playing it. Really hyped for the sequel though I'll have to wait until it's launched on pc.

Started dishonoured on pc and I'm not into stealth type games but this game doesn't force it and like what I have played so far.

Also started link between worlds on 3ds and it's literally my first real attempt to play a zelda game. Played it so much today at work until my batteries died, wish I brought the charger cable.

How many PC only, high spec required games get released a year?

I would say it would make a small % of all the games on Steam.

I use a laptop anyway and play with my Xbox controllers anyway.

Whilst I can see that PC gaming provides (mostly) better graphics and better options regarding mods etc., that's also not what I play games for. Yeah, graphics are great, but if the gameplay isn't then I'm not really interested. Those smaller indie games usually don't rely on a huge PC to run, so using a steam box - or a laptop - is just fine. Space is a premium in my house and having a desk dedicated to a PC (which would have to have two screens) is just not possible. Plus, it's a lot of money to outlay for something I wouldn't use that much. At least with gaming on the TV I can sit next to my wife whilst she does something else, whereas with a PC I'd usually be in a different room.

Glad to hear you're trying out Dishonored as well. I really enjoyed the mechanics of that game a lot. The story was a bit average to be honest, but when the mechanics are as good as they are... well... that's a huge bonus. I'm looking forward to the sequel a lot.

FYI that new laptop of yours will be able to play most PC games now. Admittedly it won't play them all at full quality... but you can play them and they will run well :)

Now go buy Legacy of the Void and come play the coop missions with me :)

I think the main benefit of PCs performance is not the graphics but the framerate, which actually is more of a gameplay feature than a graphical one, because the game is significantly more responsive to control and has better "fidelity of motion". The way 60fps+ looks is simply gravy. Framerate on consoles is a secondary concern to graphics for most developers, which makes that hardware doggy doo for me. The cheapness and convenience is the benefit.

While multiplatform games can and often do look marginally to moderately better, I think what truly separates PC is the performance. I think people who come to PC expecting a lot of games with space age tier graphics will be disappointed, it's just really not what PC is about. The real graphic whoring is done on consoles.

Fuck_Giver.exe has stopped working!
Does it matter how I write the truth?

I grabbed God of War III because it's cheap on PS4 right now. I'm not going to play it until I've finished Fallout 4, but I tried the opening part and was blown away by the cinematic presentation (which was already excellent in the PS2 games). Are there any games like this where the gameplay and presentation meld so beautifully? It's so epic. I love when Kratos falls into the River Styx and climbs out and, for the first time in 30 minutes, the orchestra halts and all you can hear are the screams of people falling into Hades in the distance.

I can't wait to replay that on PS4. Probably my favourite God of War game. Just epic in all the right ways.

You know those strategic army games we were playing when you were down? (You might not have paid attention as you were Hero Questing). Well it's sort of the computerised version of that. Awesome fun games with exceptional SP and MP. Also coop play .
