I'm glad I'm not the only one that got spawn camped :p It's a solid shooter for sure, but I agree that it's most likely going to be shallow. Star wars fans will love it but I'm now not sure if I'll buy it |

9 million players in the Beta... I'm guessing that Star Wars fans are going to buy it. I personally won't be getting it myself. It seemed like a bit of fun, and it looks nice for sure, but the on rails AT-AT's and really confusing card system (admittedly, I didn't play enough to get a good understanding of it) makes it a game that I just won't put enough time into to get enough out of. It feels like it's something you need to play every day to get the best out of it. I'll save my pennies and pick up Rainbow Six Siege instead. |

The difference is is that I'm willing to learn the intricacies of the loadout system for Siege as it's a game that looks like it's built around tactics and diverse playstyles. I never got that from the Battlefront Beta and never felt the desire to learn more about the loadout system as it was such a simple game that never felt innovative. It was rush with Star Wars skins and capture the flag with Star Wars skins... yay? Does that make sense? There's a cheapness to the loadout system in Battlefront that I found in Battlefield: Hardline as well. It felt like it was just there to encourage you to keep playing to unlock the 'next big thing'. I haven't played the Siege Beta, but I doubt that's what the game will be focused on as it will be backed up by solid diverse gameplay that requires teamwork, not spawn camping. |

Most competitive multiplayer games have you playing to unlock the next big thing. That's how unlock systems work and it's given players another reason to keep playing a multiplayer game. Battlefronts unlock system was nice and simple, my gripe is that it didn't tell me (or I ignored it) when I'd unlocked a new card. It's a solid game and it was fun, but I get the feeling that their won't be many meaningful unlocks, I feel most will be cosmetic (pure speculation). |

As in it doesn't inform you when you've hit the level to buy a card? |

Yeah. It did the first time, then after a few matches I thought it was weird nothing had popped up, so I checked the unlock screen and had 2 waiting. Not a big thing and it could be something I overlooked. Main thing is it didn't look like there was a lot of different combinations. I had the same thought with Hardline but I thought to myself, surely they just put a limited number of guns/gadgets for the beta and they'll have more in the full game. Nope, I was wrong |

I'm pretty sure the first three are unlocked at the same time so you might've just missed them. |

I agree. I get that mp games have unlocks to keep that carrot dangling in front of you all along, but Battlefront felt counter intuitive with its unlocks. I didn't (admittedly) play enough of it to get a full grip of the unlock system, but what I did see was that it didn't provide an easy path of navigation. I didn't know I'd unlocked certain items that I could use. Also, the customisation between matches just wasn't there. It was quite tedious as I'm used to being able to change up my loadout in Battlefield and testing out new things - oh, there's a guy on the other side of the map causing me grief? I'll go recon for the next spawn then. I know Battlefront's not that kind of game, but still would have liked to have had a better option of changing loadouts between matches. (Also, as mentioned, it may have that option available, but I either didn't play enough of it to find that out, or it just wasn't clear enough to point out what I could do.) |

The puzzles in Act 2 of Broken Age are atrocious. Obscure, pedantic, shittily conceived. I had to look up the answer to one of them because I didn't realize you had to get information from Shay's story that helped Vella advance in hers. That's just changing the rules without pointing it out. It's souring the experience for me a considerable deal. Storywise, the game has little going for it except whimsy and lightly cynical humour. It can be funny. It's no Psychonauts.

I got through The Talos Principle and The Swapper without a walkthrough, but Broken Age's puzzles are so obtuse and unrewarding that I don't care to solve them. I was quite annoyed with the part that requires you to put on the cloud shoes to reach the top of the ice cream mountain. The logic behind that is sound, because you've used the shoes in a similar context already, but there's no indication you need to go up there, so it didn't cross my mind. If the character had just said "I need that ice cream up there" I would've figured it out. As for having to switch between characters to find puzzle info, why the heck doesn't the game indicate that you need to do this, especially since you can do the Act 1 portions without switching? From a story point of view it makes no sense either, since Shay learning something doesn't mean Vella also learns about it, unless there's some plot point later on to justify the shitty design. This game is extremely unpleasant. 4/10. (The gameplay anyway -- the visuals, voice work and humour are all fine). Edited by Moo, Oct 18 2015, 07:59 PM.

Ouch, haven't played it and I've never really had the intention to, but I feel like obscure puzzles is a problem I have with with any point and click adventure I've played. There will always be some part I'll get stuck on and when I look up a guide for it, I end up saying 'Ok, I never would have thought of that but sure whatever'. And I end up just being frustrated and not enjoying the game. There will always be puzzles where my reaction is "Oh I probably should of thought of that, I'm impatient/stupid". But too often it's the former. Speaking of The Talos Principle, I should get back to that. I got stuck on a puzzle a while ago and get the feeling I will figure it out now. Also Antichamber |

I've got to say, I'm doing Shay's part of Act 2 and so far it's much more pleasant. It's really just Vella's part of Act 2 that's so frustrating. I'm glad I did it first so that I can finish the game on a more positive note, assuming there's no more wacky puzzles. I haven't actually completed Vella's part yet...

fuck the hexipal puzzle fuck broken age fuck double fine I can't fathom how they thought this puzzle was a good idea. I've looked up a walkthrough and still have no idea how to do it (the solution is random). Did anyone manage to beat this game without any hints? My hat goes off to you. EDIT: I "figured it out", which is to say I know what I have to do and have to go through a shameful amount of trial-and-error now to get it right. I'm certain they didn't have test players for this... It's awful. There's not a shred of fun in it. Edited by Moo, Oct 19 2015, 12:06 AM.

Haha, what you're describing reminds me a lot of my experience with parts of the second longest journey game. Some of the gameplay and puzzles were just totally unfun rubbish, but I liked the story and characters. |
