I tried Rage for a few hours on a free weekend and it just utterly failed to grab me.

So, was playing Mad Max last night and this happened:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I_qsg4hkGM (Having trouble embedding that at work)

To give you an idea of what just occurred there - there are sand tornados in the game that blow your car over and can, as shown, explode people... fairly unexpected as this was the first time I saw it happen.

I really enjoyed Rage. Can't remember anything about the story except they just seemed to end it abruptly but the gun mechanics felt nice and kills were satisfying.

Stupidly hooked on Until Dawn at the moment. One of my predictions has turned out to be accurate and am still waiting on the other two. I'll put them in spoilers here

Spoiler: click to toggle

The gameplay itself is pretty bland. Kind of like Heavy Rain but with LESS interaction. Move around, press X on a flashing thing or respond to a QTE - but the story, pacing, shot angles, and atmosphere are fantastic. Characters all feel unique and I find myself really wanting to keep playing and learn what happens next.

Haven't been this excited to get home and play a game since, probably the Witcher 3 actually, but before that... since a long time

I think my problem with Rage was it was just really inconsistent with, well, everything. Drive here! Awkwardly move through an awkward environment and kill somebody! Drive there! And the complete lack of story was just a deal breaker. There wasn't enough to keep me interested at all. I gave it a good five hours, but it was appalling. Worst gaming experience I've voluntarily had alongside Aaru's Awakening.

Rage would have been much better if it just cut everything that didnt have to do with shooting and remove those levels that repeat itself in a backward format. But I still think it's core gunplay and AI worked overtime to hold the game together.

Just looked at the level names again and Jackal Canyon and Blue Line Station were fantastic in terms of encounter design. The latter was straight up DOOM.

Rofl, man, Draygon has to be one of the most frustrating, seemingly impossible bosses I've ever fought, until I looked up the way you're supposed to kill him quickly. He's actually one of the easiest.

It looks like I've got one mission to do to complete the main storyline of Assassin's Creed Unity. For the most part the story has been fairly underwhelming with almost no character development for most of the Order of Assassins higher-ups. When you get punished for not following orders part way through the game, it would have had a bit more weight if those people had actually been shown giving orders at some point in the game. Maybe some of that stuff will come through in some of the co-op missions I haven't played yet.

I haven't run into any game breaking bugs, but there have been a few times where my character has gotten stuck and I needed to fast travel in order to get unstuck. I got around to trimming and uploading a few of the more amusing cases:

Well you can't knock that first one - it merely demonstrates amazing core strength and skill to be able to hold a position like that.

The second one was hilarious. Like those old cartoons where the person runs on the spot then hit the ground at full speed :D

Started on Grow Home and am in love. About 1000m up, so halfway there, but really enjoying it.

For the first half hour of playing Grow Home I just dragged meeples (the games version of sheep) into the water to drown them. Pretty cruel, but, they had it coming. Then, when I got high enough I found a dodo and pushed it off the cliff to see what would happen. It died. This robot is a ruthless motherfucker.

You're in control. You can't shoot 53.4 children then call the gun a ruthless mutherfucker!

Eh? They're sheep, but with faces.

Downloaded a Frozen game on the PS4 last night as it was free and I was tired. Turns out it's just another Candy Crush clone (which, of course, is a clone itself). Annnyhow, I got a trophy so now that game is stuck on my permanent record. Whhhy.
