My backlog is just building up so much now, and the problem is everything coming out is some huge, sprawling game that's gonna take hours upon hours to complete. I still haven't finished The Witcher, and after that I want to start on Bloodborne. Then I've got MGS waiting for me and most likely Fallout 4 and XCOM 2 by that point.

When I played it last year I was surprised how similar it was to Metroid Prime. It was a very faithful conversion to 3D in terms of gameplay.
See now that's a series I'd like to see remade. By the time I got around to playing it it was on Wii and the controls were just cumbersome. I don't necessarily want a graphical overhaul but I'd love for a remake/port where I could use a more modern control scheme.

I really should get around to playing them!

Got around 6 hours of MGS V in last night. I like how you're not punished for not being as sneaky as you should be. To me it looks like they've really tried to allow for different play styles :)

I like to hear that. Sounds like it could be a game that one day I'll get. One day...

Yeah I'm starting to feel that way. The controls are really bad compared to playing the Prime trilogy on the Wii (I had 1 and 2 on GC but the controls weren't good enough so I didn't complete either game). I want to try to adjust to it because the game is good, but yeah, don't be surprised if you see a post about me turning on this game, as well.

I played MP1 on the Wii (I should really get around to the other two) and I thought it controlled pretty well

OK I've had a bit of a Super Metroid binge today, made some good progress and am fairly used to the controls now. Really enjoying it.

Getting a very Rage like feeling from Mad Max.

Playing Until Dawn and came across a decision that felt very poorly implemented. It was the classic "choose between saving two people" conundrum but without any pressing need to make a decision. Move the right stick left to save Doomguy or right to save Jingles. Problem was I couldn't choose niether nor was there any real pressing need to make a choice.

Reminded me of the inFamous tower decision. I think the choice is a building with a bunch of scientists or doctors or something on one side, or another building with your girlfriend on the other. You only have time to save one however or they both get destroyed. I think one of the Nolan Batman movies did it too.

Anyway it was a shame as it forced me to make a decision that didn't feel like it was needed.

Aside from that it's a great game. Dialogue is a bit "hokey" but the tension and atmosphere is fantastic. Also just feels like a choose your own adventure story with occasional QTEs but, again, I'm fine with that as that's what I expected.

Can't wait to get back to it.

It's not that bad yet, but if the game doesn't stretch past being 'collect a bunch of car parts and then kill a guy' then it'll be very underwhelmingly mediocre.

There's also a character here who pronounces dinki-di like dinki-dee and that's really throwing me off.

Yeah, the previews I watched leading up the release really left me scratching my head and what people were excited about. The fact that it's a mad max game? It just looked really standard to me, but hopefully there's more to it.

Hey, RAGE has good gunplay and some of the later levels were pretty good. Like that level in the subway or that one with the bandits with barrels rolling down.

But all that play-level-in reverse was stupid. And then the armored guards with shields showed up. Then came one of the worst endings I've ever seen in a game.

Also, the car controls in that game was so dull, lacked any weight or satisfaction driving a car in dusty terrain. I think they just used the same physics for that RC car bomb.

I fucking hated Rage. One of the worst games I've ever played.

Mad Max - fortunately - has kicked up a gear and gotten enjoyable. It's not perfect, but the car combat is a lot of fun (take that Batmobile!) and it's such a damn good looking game. I've eased into the combat with Max now quite well and have accepted the basic story. In fact, this is more like Red Faction: Guerilla than Rage. Man, playing this makes me wish there was a Red Faction game like that one for this Gen.
