Had no idea. Did a quick search last week to find out some reviews and saw nothing. Thanks for the heads up

I've been looking into a new GPU lately and was looking at the 290 (and trying to decide between that or a GTX 970).

From what I've read it's likely that the 390X is just a re-branded 290X and doesn't improve on much at all. I'm likely to be wrong as I didn't read much else, they're out of my price range right now anyway. Although the 380...

Yep, from the reviews, the 390X is a disappointment. I cant afford a 980 and of course the 980ti so im thinking a 970ti when released will be in the same price range as the 390X and out perform it. Plus superior energy conservation.

Yeah seems that way. Not sure if a 970 ti is coming out at all, doesn't seem to be any indication of it at this time.

I'm looking at $369 for an R9 290 or $469 - $499 for the GTX 970.

It's a tough one, as the 290 is not far at all behind the 970 performance wise.

Pros for going with the 970

+ That bit of extra performance will mean it will last a bit longer.

+ It's newer so support should exist for longer.

+ Nvidia drivers are supposed to be better (not that I've ever had a problem with amd drivers).

+ It runs cooler and more efficiently (knowing it won't melt on a 40 degree day is nice. Power consumption from what I've read makes a fairly negligible difference to power bills etc. so I'm not worried about that).

+ If I get it before July 15, I get Batman Arkham Knight!

Some nice pros there, not sure if it's $100 worth of pros though for the performance difference.

I watched the GB quick look of that yesterday. It looks fantastic. $12 on Steam right now, seems worth it?

It's as good as i had hoped it would be.

It's a metroidvania that's very platform focused. Combat is pretty simple, but it's platforming is top notch. It has this tight elegant feel to it similar to Rayman. The audio and art direction is just wonderful.

So what have you guys bought this steam sale? I'm done for this sale, the list be:

- Metro 2033 Redux, 10/10, would buy on sale again.

- XCOM Elite Soldier Pack & Slingshot DLC. Pretty meh really, but happened to be playing the game and honestly wanted them for the armour customisation options which for 75% off was decent enough.

- Wolfenstein The New Order, which unfortunately I have to wait until I upgrade CPU to play, but it looks right up my alley.

- Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, which I played for a bit but honestly got super bored of super fast. It's just more of the same basic gameplay from Far Cry 3 in a new coat of paint, but with a very lackluster gameworld. I do very much like the aesthetic and theme, though.

- Alien Isolation with Last Survivor, Crew Expendable DLC. Game looks pretty cool, looking forward to getting around to this one.

- The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, despite remembering Moo being annoyed at the game going to downhill, I'm still interested to try it.

- Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. I've only ever played the first two games, back on 360. Don't have any interest in keeping up with the series or picking up where I left off, but I'm in the mood to play one and many point to this one as being the best of the oversized litter.

I also made use of the steam refund function, I bought typing of the dead. Looked funny in videos, which it was in gameplay, but I don't really care for on rails shooters within the context of home entertainment when I could be playing real shooters. I think they belong in the arcade. Typing mechanic was kinda funny but got old quick. Took about 4 days or so to get the money back in my steam wallet after I requested it.

Nice haul. I felt similarly about FC3: Blood Dragon. I really liked what they were going for and it's overall style is really cool, but the gameplay just didn't really grab me. I think I had my fill of FC3.

I bought The Fall and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I saw the trailer for the new Deus Ex and realised I still haven't played HR or the original game. I then decided it was time I finally gave up on the idea of playing the original game and bought HR.

I intended on modding the original or something but it's still just so dated now that I don't even see the point. I would be playing it because I feel like I have to, and I don't really have the time for that anymore.

Gone Home and a Europa Universalis IV expansion. I've barely ever played the latter game but I'm sure I'll get obsessed with it someday like I did with Crusader Kings II.

I'm still playing The Witcher 2 so both are headed for the back catalogue...

Yeah, I totally agree, I'd had my fill with FC3 and Blood Dragon really just felt very, very tired. Unfortunate, really.

Did you get the Director's Cut version of Human Revolution? Apparently that version did things to help with the boss fights (the worst part of the game by miles that we later found out were outsourced to another developer entirely). I'm planning on giving that version a replay soon, been nearly 4 years since I played it. I don't blame you for not wanting to play Deus Ex. It's an awesome game but it's aged quite a lot being 15 years old now. If you can get past that, it's a very rewarding game, but Human Revolution is similarly excellent in it's own right and is of course a lot more inviting to play in 2015. It's also great that it's a prequel so it's quite self contained.

Haven't bought anything this current steam sale. Probably would have bought wolfenstein but I believe I missed the daily special %off, it's the only time I would have bought it. Maybe they may offer it again on the last day.

I want life is strange but the reduction isn't enough for me this sal. Perhaps next steam sale.
