I pre-loaded the game and am rewarded with continuous installation fails as I try to download the final 320mb. I have 92gb free on my SSD and I have no idea what the problem is.

RIP.

Finally bought Ori. A game I wanted to get since it came out. It plays just like I was hoping for. A lot like Dust an Elysian's Tail but harder. The save system is punishing too.

Still not sure I want to try Witcher 3. I tried number 2 but couldn't get comfortable with the controls.

This feels like Witcher 2 plugged into a Skyrim type open world system... but I actually like it and find it interesting :)Liberating towns from monsters is fun although many peasants still seem to not wear pants :S

Didn't tweak the settings at all but left everything on medium. Runs smooth as silk and looks fantastic!

Good god Ori can be an infuriating game.

It's fun, and gorgeous... but not an "easy" platformer by any means.

XCOM Enemy Within: it's awesome. I tried Enemy Unknown a over a year ago and I just didn't really like it that much, just wasn't in the mood for it I guess. This time around with the expansion it feels a lot more fleshed out. Absolutely loving it, Mech units are so cool!

The only thing i didnt like about Enemy Within is that it actually made the game much easier. Not that they nerfed the difficulty in any form of way, it's just that the game wasnt rebalanced well to support all the new upgrades / units you can create that caused abit of a power creep.

Yeah I'm playing on the normal difficulty and getting Mechs definitely felt like a weight off my shoulders. I still have to contend with the alien mechs, though, which can be troublesome if they catch me in a bad position. But if the game just starts to feel increasingly easier and easier I'll turn up the difficulty (assuming you can do that, I haven't checked).

I think the biggest mistake I've made so far was not investing towards more satellites quickly enough. I'm making up for it now but I think I should have gotten started on it during the second month rather than the third. As a result I didn't have much money and was dealing with the abductions who paid in money, even though they weren't necessarily the ones in need the most. I lost france and india as a result, but I wasn't too bummed since they seem to be two of the lowest paying countries.

Been playing Pillars of Eternity.

Really enjoying it so far, I forgot how beautiful and rich pre-rendered backgrounds can be in just making simple things like terrain not look like copy pasted assets that just looks all shiny.

I like how it streamlines old-school party based RPGs by reshuffling the rules of the Infinity Engine games (Baldurs Gate, NWN, IWD, PS:T) around, rather than having to take things away. It's an interesting system to understand and get used to and still has the depth in spades, allowing you to mix max, experiment and even create your own party composition by creating new characters over playing with the Story driven ones available to you. And it makes combat encounters really fun and engaging with how you micromanage up to 6 party members.

The writing and worldbuilding is great so far, even though it's delivered in mostly really densely delivered text. But I find it unusually appealing to read through and follow.

If there's something I dont like, it's that the combat UI indicators is a little cluttered to comprehend at a glance.

Man, the skill and technological progression of your units is so addicting and satisfying in XCOM. So hooked on it right now. 23 hours in, so far I've wiped out EXALT (which was satisfying to do), and just went through that underground alien base after building the key.

Metro 2033 Redux. Damn, both the Metro games are just great, but it's so good playing Metro 2033 with the improved performance that Last Light had. If you'd asked me a couple of years ago to pick between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro I'd likely have picked the former, but now I'd honestly say I like the two Metro games more. STALKER is open world, true, but Metro has a good contrasting mix of more open surface areas along with the underground, all the while having considerably better story, much better and more satisfying gun mechanics, controlling more smoothly, looking and sounding considerably better, and now that 2033 has the redux version both games are far and away better optimised than any of the STALKER titles. STALKER, whilst I have fond memories of playing them, is in many regards very awkward and unrefined by comparison. I'm going to have to replay Last Light again after playing this, shit's just too good.

Seriously, if any of you guys haven't played them and are interest in legitimately great post apocalyptic shooters get 2033 (Redux version is a must) and Last Light. You can get both in a bundle for $10US on Steam right now.

I have the original version of 2033 (which I'm pretty sure I got for free), but have not yet played it. Would it still be worth buying the Redux instead?

I think absolutely, especially since you're like me and have a mid range rig. It just runs so much smoother.

Recently I've been playing a lot of Star Command. I really enjoy the game but now remember why I stopped playing last time... it doesn't feel complete.

Does anyone know if there's an end game or does it just loop until you grow bored of it? I've been trying alternate decisions, revisiting planets, harder difficulties, etc. but - so far - without any luck.

The placeholders for new content like planet visits and contraband were part of the reason I didn't back Star Control Galaxies.
