So I've decided that Hotline Miami 2 is an inferior (good, but still inferior) game to the first. My issues with it:

1. It's too long. I've played 5 hours which is roughly the length of the first, and it feels like it's dragging a bit at this point.

2. The mandatory "You can't pick up guns and have to reload" limitations in the Hawaii USSR levels really aren't that enjoyable. I think they're the worst levels in the game by far.

3. The difficulty is nowhere near as progressive as it was in the first game. It's a bit of a rollercoaster.

4. It's glitchy.

It's the first game I've bought "new" in quite some time and it's reminded me how wise I was not to do it and why I should never do that again.

Fuck_Giver.exe has stopped working!
Does it matter how I write the truth?

So it's almost as if the criminals are working under a different set of rules to the police?
Well, maybe. It's flawed because if you don't hold your badge up, they'll kill you. But, if you do put your badge up and delay arresting them, they'll kill you. It's just a flawed idea. I haven't started the second half which changes your allegiance, so I'll see how that goes.

All four points match my criticism of it. It's good, but certainly pales in comparison to the first game. Also, I found that it has way too many plots going on to be coherent. I can't help but think of The Raid 2 in comparison to this game. They both take cues from the first game/film and try and expand on that tenfold. The Raid 2 succeeds, Hotline Miami 2 does not.

Started ploaying This War of Mine. Really enjoying it so far. Nice survivalist game. I don't think I'm doing too bad right now but we're only in the first fortnight and I've still no weapons so I have a feeling I might be out of luck soon. Been raided twice but didn't have much worth stealing so that was ok :)

Game looks amazing!!

14 days is pretty good on a first run.

Game gets rough around day 25. You'll need weapons, but the game is so balanced that using weapons are also detrimental, let alone attaining them comes with either some hefty risks or investment.

When it comes to a bartering economy, or just an item economy in general, it's one of the most balanced i've come across: Items are sunk appropriately to create necessities so there's always a need; it wants you to always want everything.

I was very lucky on my first scavenge and found two diamonds. I'm not sure how I feel about diamonds as a currency however. I can understand bandages and medicine being of high value but not diamonds!

I made Pavle a knife last night and all he did was manage to injure himself defending the house. He'd done perfectly fine without a knife until then... I think I may have to take it off him.

Not doing so well this time. Got Pavle machine gunned on day 7.

What's SAB? See Bruno's second status? Or is it sad? I know Katia's depressed so maybe sad makes more sense

On the plus side his replacement, Zlana, has the special skill of bolstering spirits! Just what I need since KAtia's now depressed and won't do anything.

Put the pics ina spoiler tag so as not to spam you all too much.

Can't win with these people. Last time I helped and the others got angry then depresssed. How could he leave us alone all night to help a neighbour? I didn't get anything for it (and assumed I wouldn't be able to keep the shotgun) so decided we needed all hands on deck at home this time and they STILL complained!

Toughen up people! Could be wor... oh hang on a sec...

Pandamatic... you've got to stop recommending games! I don't have enough time!

The Talos Principle is amazing! So well designed and fun! You're right in that it feels very much like portal with its segregated puzzle areas and ".teaching by doing"

This is kind of a shame. I understand the reasons, puzzle wise, for enforcing it but couldn't they have used something better to block the beam? If this were real (pun intended) then I could just move it slightly to the side and aim it thru. Would be better to have used one of those blueish barriers instead!

That's just nitpicking.

It's there to communicate clearly what's on the other side. Better that than another blue barrier that obscures important information for puzzle solving, or another blue barrier there that confuses the player thinking that it's something tangible / usable. Also video game logic also communicates that barred window cant have something go through it (as a form of hard collision).

Dont doubt this game's sense of direction and level communication. It's done so well without having to handhold you with objective markers, waypoints, breadcrumbs a map or whatever.

But yeah, it's really great. I'm about half way through. There's about 3 puzzles I've encountered so far that are probably harder than that amusing Swapper puzzle that everyone here got stuck on. I can keep recommending games for lulz (I dont have time to keep up with this independent PC gaming boom either).

I assume you're referring to the Swapper puzzle where you have to create an upside down chain of walking clones?

Literally and figuratively a pain train.

Yep. Sure is. They've only done it once so far and it was just a throwaway comment... not even a complaint.

Really enjoying it atm. Managed to fit in a couple of hours today and have 4 tetronimos left before I finish that first big room.
